Performing stand-up comedy in Bangkok has been an incredible experience. The city’s comedy scene is vibrant, diverse, and full of energy, making it a dream for any comic looking to connect with audiences from around the world.
Bangkok is a unique place to do comedy. The crowds are a mix of locals, expats, and travelers, creating an environment where every show feels fresh. The energy in the room can range from wild and rowdy to attentive and thoughtful, depending on the venue and the night. It’s a challenge that keeps me sharp and makes each performance unforgettable.
I’ve been fortunate to perform at all the top spots:
Bangkok Comedy Club: A staple of the scene with consistently great shows and supportive audiences. I've gotten to do short form improv here as well. Right off of Sukhumvit road.
Level Up Comedy Club: A fresh, energetic and intimate space where the crowd loves to engage.
Raw Comedy: True to its name, this venue has a raw, unfiltered vibe that’s a thrill for any performer.
The Comedy Joint: Situated in Khaosan. A lively, Western-style comedy club that brings the fun in spades! With its laid-back atmosphere, cold drinks, and a lineup of sharp comedians
Khaosan Comedy Club: Right in the heart of the bustling backpacker district, this club brings an international flavor to the stage.
Golden Hour Showcase: This was a fun show at Golden Hour dispensary run by Leaf Laugh Love. This made me real like I was back in Colorado doing a show.
What I love about doing comedy in Bangkok is the camaraderie among performers. The comedy community here is welcoming and tight-knit, making it easy to connect with fellow comedians and audiences alike.
Every show here challenges me in new ways. You learn to adapt, to connect with people from wildly different backgrounds, and to find humor that transcends cultures. The laughs might start with a language we all understand, but the connection goes deeper—proof that comedy truly is a universal language.
If you’re ever in Bangkok, check out a show at one of these amazing venues. Or better yet, try grabbing the mic yourself. You never know where the stage might take you.
See you out there,
Gary John Miller
