Gary John Miller

Gary John Miller is a comedian, writer, and actor who brings high energy and heartfelt humor to every stage he steps on. A traveling comedian, Gary performs across the globe, sharing his unique blend of storytelling and comedy.

​

Gary has over a decade of writing for live theater. He was a co-founder and Artistic Director of the sketch comedy group The Dads from 2018 to 2024. During his time with the group, he produced their debut comedy-story album Good Kids Daad City and their first sketch comedy special, Daddy Road.In addition to his work with The Dads, Gary has written sketches for Electric Theater Unplugged, Grafenberg Theater's 303's and Heartbreaks, and The '92 Dream Team and Unauthorized Story. He also wrote for the digital sketch group The Color Plaid.

As a solo performer has performed at the Crosstown Comedy Festival in NYC, Boulder International Fringe Festival, Front Range Funny Festival, and made his Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut in 2024 with his storytelling show Gary John Miller:GOOF.

 

As an actor, Gary was nominated for Best Actor at the Austin Short Comedy Film Festival for The Runs. Films he has directed have been showcased at the Trash Film Festival in Croatia, Los Angeles CineFest, and the Black Squirrel Film Festival.

On screen, Gary can be seen on AppleTV and Tubi as Richard in the late-night comedy Army & Coop, as the villainous Stack in Compromised the Series, and in Long Walks on the Beach. He’s also made appearances on Lifetime and Netflix, including the hit documentary The Social Dilemma.

Gary's been been featured on podcasts such as Television Times with Steve Otis Gunn, Food in Film with Jim Pittenger (Biker Jim), Pretend Worlds Real People, and Jam The Radar. Additionally, Gary hosted Veriheal's podcast, Room #420, for a year, serving as their corporate spokesperson.

Gary earned a BFA in Theater and English-Creative Writing from Augustana College, IL, where he honed his comedic skills as a member of the improv team Heywire and won back-to-back Last Comic Standing competitions in 2014 and 2015. His passion for storytelling was fostered in college, where he was also a 3-time letter winner in wrestling, a member of the Vikings football team, and an editor for the literary magazine SAGA.

​

To further refine his craft, Gary has trained with institutions such as Second City, Under the Gun Theater, Atlantic Acting School, and Benjy Dobrin Studios.
